I’m Susan Loken and I am your friendly, neighborhood running coach. I took up the sport at age 35 and have never looked back. Big dreams paired with persistent action helped me achieve my running goals, and now it’s my turn to give back.

I work with all-level runners who are ready to chase after their big goals, helping them to devise an action plan and inspiring them to follow through until that distant dream becomes their reality.

I launched BTB Coaching in January 2012 so that I could guide runners like you to the race course, and cheer you across the finish line. I am a Certified Running Coach in Phoenix, AZ, with NPTI Personal Trainer, Lydiard II, and Revolution Running Certifications.

As a coach, I combine my experience in elite competition with my continuing studies in training, therapy, and coaching in order to provide the best and most updated guidance possible.

Over the course of my running career, I have accomplished many wonderful things, including:

  • Winning the U.S. Masters Marathon Championship four times
  • Qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials three times
  • Taking three consecutive titles at the New York City More Marathon
  • Coaching over 1,000 runners to their goal of completing a half or full marathon
  • Placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in my age group at Boston with a PR of 2:53 in my 50’s
  • Being recognized in [NEWSPAPER, MAGAZINE, WEBSITE, DOCUMENTARY, etc.]
  • Offering fitness and nutritional training to children during my six years as project director and head coach at Chances for Children – Arizona
  • Founding BTB (Believe Train Become) Coaching in January 2012 to help runners and aspiring athletes achieve personal success

When I’m not running or coaching, I enjoy spending time with my family–my husband, three sons, daughter-in-law, stepson, stepdaughter, and two granddaughters. I aim to promote and personify a healthy and active lifestyle through all that I do, and to serve as a prime example to others that it’s never too late to make positive changes in your life!
