Awesome 20 miler

Iit’s amazing how much your atmosphere affects your run. Today, Cool Weather + Fast Running Partners + New Running Route = Awesome 20-miler!

It was my third 20-miler, and it went great. The weather was only in the 80’s, with just a touch of humidity. I had two of the fastest girls in Arizona to train with, Ariana Hilborn & Tanaya Gallagher. (Now don’t forget those names because you will be reading about them as they qualify for the 2012 Olympic Trials). Both of them are so motivated and driven.

Tip: Surround yourself with people you admire and want to be like. As you know, negativity breeds negativity … UGH. Stay away from that! Positive energy and motivating people are contagious! If you want to catch it (positive attitude and motivation), surround yourself with people that are positive and motivated.

Another tip: Change up your old running routes. New scenery revives you! It was my first time running from Arianna’s house in Scottsdale, so the scenery was new to me. Loved it!

Our first 10 miles were at a comfortable 7:15ish pace. On the way back, our miles were between 6:16-6:38. I felt comfortable the entire run.

Ok, so I’m back on track. No missed workouts, 8 hours of sleep each night, stretching, core and strength routine 2 x per week, only fueling my body with good nutrients (no junk food, no wine, no brownies!)

Five weeks until Twin Cities and I must give myself every chance for success.
